5 things we look for in our food team

  1. Cooking and Food Preparation Skills: A strong ability to prepare a variety of meals that cater to large groups, including special dietary needs, is essential. Knowledge of safe food handling practices and the ability to create nutritious and kid-friendly menus are key aspects of this role.

  2. Time Management and Efficiency: Serving meals to large groups of campers on a tight schedule requires excellent time management. A food service team member must work efficiently to ensure that meals are prepared, served, and cleaned up in a timely manner, keeping the camp day running smoothly.

  3. Teamwork and Communication: The kitchen is a fast-paced environment, and effective communication and collaboration with other team members are crucial. Being able to work well with others ensures that the kitchen operates smoothly and that meals are prepared and served without delays.

  4. Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Camp life can be unpredictable, and a food service team member needs to be adaptable and ready to handle last-minute changes, such as dietary restrictions or supply shortages. Quick thinking and flexibility help keep the kitchen running efficiently under any circumstances.

  5. Attention to Detail and Cleanliness: Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen is critical. A food service team member must pay close attention to hygiene practices, ensuring that all food is prepared safely and that the kitchen and dining areas are kept spotless.
