Summer Camp Soccer Jobs

  • Overview

When you are coaching kids soccer, you’re not just teaching them a physical skill. Soccer teaches kids skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and decision making, that they'll be able to apply to all aspects of their life.

At Camp IHC soccer coaches will teach five to six periods a day. You’ll teach campers from 6-16 years old with a variety of abilities. There will be opportunities to coach specialized classes to more advanced soccer players. You’ll also coach various competitive games, referee matches, and coach IHC teams against other camps in tournaments

You’ll work with other soccer coaches to build and execute an amazing soccer program.

  • Why Teach Soccer at Camp?

Coaching at a summer camp is not an easy job, so if you’re ready to challenge yourself, then this is a role to grab with both hands.

Campers will come to class with a variety of abilities and interest levels so be prepared for a challenging role.  It’s also a rewarding role where you will really impact some campers. You’ll help encourage campers to pass, dribble, shoot, tackle and build upon the foundations of the game. By the end of the summer your coaching and leadership skills will become more defined and polished.

At Camp IHC you’ll be a role model both on and off the court to our campers. They will look up to you in so many ways and as cliche as it sounds, they will 100% have an impact on you too.

FAQs

  • Coaching periods are around 40-50 minutes long. You’ll normally coach 5 or 6 periods a day. Campers will arrive at the soccer field with their camp counselor.  From the start, you will need to engage with the campers and get them ready and excited for the lesson. You and your team will have lesson plans (that you help build!) that will be tailored for the different levels and abilities. Those 40-50 minutes are yours to make as amazing as possible.

  • A typical class will have around 12-18 campers. Sometimes bunks have split activities or off-camp trips, or perhaps two bunks are scheduled for soccer at once! This means you can sometimes have a handful of campers or a larger class to teach. You will have a schedule for each day to know what campers to expect before the day starts.

  • Yes! There are different types of tournaments over the summer. There are divisional tournaments where bunks will play mini-tournaments against each other. There are inter-camp tournaments where different camps will play against each other. There are off-camp tournaments where you will go to another camp to represent IHC with your team.

  • Our camp season runs from mid-June to mid-August. For this position you would need to be available for this period.

  • Throughout the summer you will live in a bunk with campers and other camp counselors. When you’re not coaching you’ll connect with them and be part of their group to provide extra coverage. During this time you’ll have an opportunity to take part in other activities with them and help your team out.

  • Yes. On a regular schedule you will have one period off each day.

You will also have one full day and night off each week. This is your chance to rest, recover and try some new things on camp and explore new places off camp with other staff.
